Bright Martial Art & Fitness - Karate空手道/Kick Fit

Thank you for all your hard work and support, our Karate teams had great competitive experiences. A special thank you to everybody who helped throughout the day.
Our tournament teams earned 1 silver 3 Bronze.
Congrats to all the winners and participants.

William, Matias, Nathan, Travis, Kyle,Curtis, Noah, Trevor, Jordan faced some very experienced opponents in Kata and sparring competitions, and for Jordan, William, Kyle and Travis, it was their first tournament.

Sensei Carlsen Ma and nine students representing Bright Martial Arts & Fitness-Shotokan Karate went to Richmond Olympic Oval to take part in the 2019 Provincial Karate Championships on Nov 29. This provincial event brings together athletes from across the province and expects to draw large crowds as the province's best talent takes to the rings.

Bright Martial Arts & Fitness (BMAF) provides karate training in Burnaby area. We seeks to promote Traditional Shotokan Karate through lifelong practice.  Shotokan (松濤館) is a style of karate, developed from various martial arts by Gichin Funakoshi (1868–1957) and his son Gigo (Yoshitaka) Funakoshi (1906–1945).

Karate is a martial art that can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age or gender, and can be undertaken at any time during a person’s life. The training system employed in karate comprises three main areas: kihon (basics), kumite (sparring), and kata (forms). It is involving a variety of techniques, including blocks, strikes evasions, throws, and joint manipulations. With intense training in a disciplined environment, members will develop physically and mentally.

Karate is not a punching and kicking sport. Violence should never be the solution to solve a problem, we learn Karate (Martial Arts) is not only for training our body, but also and most importantly, for training our heart and our mind to stand firm, to be positive, to be courageous in any circumstances, and reach the goal of life.
